Move your license to a new Mac

Moving to a new Mac is two things: copy your project files over, and enter the same license key on the new machine. There’s nothing to deactivate first in the common case, because one key activates up to three machines. The key validates offline, and the app registers the new machine in the background when a connection is available.

What you need

  • Your license key
  • Your project files, or the external drive they live on

Move your projects

  1. Copy your project files to the new Mac, or connect the external drive they live on. A Neutral Tracks project is a single package that carries its audio with it (there are no external files to gather), so each project opens on the new Mac exactly as it was.

Activate the new Mac

  1. Install Neutral Tracks on the new Mac.
  2. Enter the same license key. Activate your license lists the entry points. The key validates offline, so activation doesn’t wait on a connection; the app registers the new machine in the background when one is available.

Your old Mac stays activated: moving in is a second activation, not a transfer. Deactivation only becomes relevant once the key is active on three machines.

Troubleshooting

  • The key is already active on three machines: contact support and we’ll reset activations for the machines you no longer use. Your key and your projects are unaffected.
  • No internet on the new Mac: activation still works, because the key validates offline, and registration happens in the background once a connection is available.
  • A project won’t come along: the project is a single package; copy the package itself (or keep it on an external drive) and it opens exactly as it was.
