Quick start

Neutral Analyzer is a meter with five views in one window. It changes nothing in the sound, has no parameters to automate, and remembers its settings per instance.

  1. Put Neutral Analyzer on a track, or on the master, and play. The picture follows what plays through it.
  2. Pick a view in the top bar: Spectrum, Waveform, Loudness, Stereo, or Balance.
  3. Open Display for the view’s settings. Reset clears every measurement the Loudness view has gathered.
  4. To compare against another track, route it into the Analyzer’s sidechain input. Spectrum draws it over your sound with Show Sidechain, and Balance compares against it.

The level strip beside every view reads peak, RMS, and true peak, the same meters as Neutral Tracks’ mixer.

What runs when the window is closed

The loudness measurement keeps running in the plugin, so Integrated and the maxima cover the whole program whether or not you watched. The pictures draw only while the window is open, so a closed Analyzer costs nothing.

Surround tracks

On a track wider than stereo, a Pair control at the right of the bar chooses which pair of channels the Spectrum, Waveform, Stereo, and Balance views read. Loudness always measures the whole bus.

Defaults for new instances

The gear at the right end of the bar has Use as Defaults for New Instances: the current view and every display setting become what the next Analyzer opens with.
